Registered Users may report a metal theft incident; as well as upload images of the stolen items, using the corresponding form on the «Metal Alert» System.
All metal theft incidents reports are subsequently examined by the System Administrator; and, if approved, entered into the system and published. During the examination process, the Administrator may contact the registered user for clarifications or further information.
Note that willfully and falsely reporting a theft is considered a felony or a misdemeanour and it is prosecuted. It may also be punished by a prison term of up to 5 years (Article 229 of the Penal Code).
In order to send a request for reporting a metal theft incident, please complete the corresponding form as follows:
Title of the metal theft incident
Enter a title for your report. Ideally, the title should represent an overview of your report. For example ”Theft of Copper Cables from Factory Storage Area”.

Date of the Incident
Enter the date that the metal theft incident occurred.
This field is required.
Address
Enter the address (or, in case there is no address, the area) where the metal theft incident has occurred.
This field is required.
Postal Code
Select the postal code of the area where the metal theft incident has occurred, from the drop-down list.
This field is required.
City / Town
Enter the name of the city or town where the metal theft incident has occurred.
This field is required.
County / Prefecture
Please select the county (or prefecture) where the metal theft incident has occurred, from the drop-down list.
This field is required.
Stolen Items
Please select the items which were stolen, from the drop down list.
You must select at least one of the items contained in the list.
In case you would like to select multiple items from the list, do so by holding down the "CTRL” button on your keyboard, and then click using your mouse on the items of your choice, one after the other.
Note: In case the item, which was stolen does not appear in the list provided; please select "Other” and clearly state the stolen items in your description (see below) of the metal theft incident.
Stolen Material
Please select the material, which was stolen, from the drop down list.
You must select at least one of the materials contained in the list.
In case you would like to select multiple materials from the list, do so by holding down the "CTRL” button on your keyboard, and then click using your mouse on the materials of your choice, one after the other.
Note: In case the material, which was stolen does not appear in the list provided; please select "Other” and clearly state the stolen material in your description (see below) of the metal theft incident. In case you do not know the type of material which was stolen (for example, you know that cables were stolen, but you are not sure what they are made of), please state so in your description of the incident.
Description
Provide a short description of the metal theft incident.
This field is required.
Value
Enter the approximate value of the stolen items and/or materials. In case you do not know the approximate value, leave this field blank.
This field is optional, and only numbers are accepted.
Name
Enter the first name of the contact person who should be contacted for further inquiries (this may be yourself or another person within the company/organization).
This field is required.
Last Name
Enter the last name of the contact person who should be contacted for further inquiries (this may be yourself or another person within the company/organization).
This field is required.
Telephone
Enter the business phone number of the contact person who should be contacted for further inquiries.
This field is required.
Email
Enter the e-mail address of the contact person who should be contacted for further inquiries.
This field is required.
Note: Your name and contact information will not be disclosed on the Metal-Alert website and will only be used by the website's Administrators or the Police Authorities in order to verify your report.
Once you have completed all required form fields, click "CONTINUE”.
On the next screen the page Report a Theft – STEP 2 will appear.
On this page, you may add up to 4 photos to your report.
Note: The addition of photos is optional. In case you do not want to add any photos, click "SEND REPORT".
Note: Only photos in .jpg format are accepted. For technical reasons, please resize your photos to a maximum width of 1000 pixels before uploading..
If you experience problems uploading your photos, or if you have photos in a different format, please submit your report without adding them and contact us per e-mail stating the Report ID which you will receive as soon as you click the SEND REPORT button
In order to add photos to your report, follow the steps below:
In order to send your report, click «SEND REPORT».
On the next screen, a confirmation message will appear, stating the id number your report has been assigned by the system.
Furthermore, you will receive an e-mail message confirming the receipt of your metal theft incident report, along with the ID number the report has been assigned by the system. In case you wish to enquire about the status of your report, please do so contacting us at info@MetalAlert.gr stating the ID number of your report.
The System Administrator will examine your report, and once it is approved and published, you will receive a notification by e-mail. In case your report is not approved, you will not receive any further e-mails regarding this specific report.
